Rushing Middle School Family:
I hope this message finds you refreshed and energized after our winter break! As we begin 2025, I want to share some exciting developments in our school community.
As many of you know, our district continues to grow and thrive, leading to the upcoming opening of our new middle school, Moseley Middle School. While change can sometimes feel uncertain, Mr. McDonnell (Rushing's new principal), Rushing administration, and I want to assure you that our Rushing community will remain strong through this transition. In fact, I'm thrilled to share a photo from before the break where Mr. McDonnell and I had the wonderful opportunity to meet with Mr. Rushing! This moment felt like perfect timing, symbolizing the collaborative spirit that will guide us through these changes.
I'm excited to continue serving as your principal through May 23, 2025. Each and every student, teacher, and staff member is a valued part of our Rushing family, and we will continue to provide the excellent education and supportive environment you've come to expect from us.
Due to our continued growth (we will welcome over 20 new students on January 7th!), we need to make some adjustments, particularly in our 6th and 8th grade classes where some sections have reached 35 students. I'm grateful that our district has recognized this need and provided additional teaching allocations to support our students, which will allow us to create more appropriate class sizes for optimal learning. While some classes may experience changes in the coming weeks as we complete our hiring process (including necessary background checks and paperwork), we are committed to making these transitions as seamless as possible for our students. Impacted students and their families will receive communication as these changes happen. Thank you for your trust and grace as we optimize our students' learning!
These changes reflect the vibrant growth of our community, and while change can be challenging, it also brings new opportunities. Our administrative team is working diligently to ensure these transitions are handled thoughtfully and professionally.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. We value open communication and want to ensure everyone feels informed and supported during this time of growth.
Here's to a fantastic spring semester!
Warmly,
Dr. Kari Roan
