Purpose
Prosper ISD School Counselors believe all students are unique and have special abilities, talents, and interests that must be recognized and nurtured. Our purpose is to promote and serve students’ academic success, personal, social, and emotional development, and college and career readiness while working closely with students, staff, parents, and the community to continuously monitor student needs and success.

Vision
Prosper ISD School Counselors are committed to a comprehensive school counseling program that equips students to develop self-directed personal growth and strategic partnerships within their school, family, and community.
Prosper ISD’s Counseling Program is based on The Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs and the American School Counselor Association Model. The foundation of the program is to provide developmentally appropriate assistance for all students, and at the same time provide additional assistance to students in need of support. The comprehensive program is based on four components:

Guidance Curriculum
Guidance Curriculum provides lessons to students that facilitates growth, development, and transferable skills in the areas of education, career, personal, and social development. The areas addressed are:

Responsive Services
Responsive Services addresses the immediate needs and personal concerns of students. Although counselors will respond to any student's needs, the following topics have been identified as having a high priority:
Academic success includes tardies, absences, misbehavior, being new to school, school avoidance, and study skills
Suicide and self-harm thoughts or threats
Child abuse and neglect
School Transitions
Stress and anxiety
Substance abuse
School age pregnancy

Individual Planning assists students in monitoring and understanding their own educational, career, and personal-social development.

All of our counselors are professionals with a Masters Degree, a teaching certificate, and are certified by the state of Texas to be a School Counselor.
